I have been a practicing massage therapist since 2013. Working in various spas and fitness centers, I have met many people from various backgrounds with different therapeutic needs. This has allowed me to enhance my skills as a therapist. As a graduate of the Cortiva Institute of Massage Therapy I am skilled in various forms of massage and have a great understanding of the human system. In addition to being a practicing therapist, I am also a massage instructor at Cortiva Institute where I share my knowledge with future therapists.
I approach all my therapeutic sessions with knowledge and intent to ensure that my client's needs are met. Although I specialized in clinical and deep tissue massage and manual lymphatic drainage, I am skilled in various forms of massage and pressure that will be used to create an effective session.
MY APPROACH
In today's stressful and busy society we have become more focused on daily work. As a result we pay less attention to our bodies, leading to multiple aches and pains, of which many become chronic. The lack of daily self-care can lead to muscular imbalances, leading to health and postural issues later in life.
Through massage many of these conditions can be treated. Whether your goal is to simply relax, or reduce that nagging pain, I use massage as a pathway to assist in providing relief through knowledge and intention.
By blending different modalities of massage and techniques, I develop a session tailored to my client's individual needs. By relaxing the muscles, assisting in muscle recovery, and rejuvenating the body the ultimate goal is to improve physical and mental life.
Manual Lymphatic Massage (MLD):
Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD), sometimes referred to as lymphatic massage, has been used to treat lymphadima caused by multiple factors; such as post surgery edema or injury-based edema. However, over the years MLD has been found to have additional benefits; which I can provide by working with the body's superficial tissue. By understanding my client's specific needs and individual condition, MLD can be used by itself or as part of any massage session to enhance overall wellness.
MLD uses gentle-light touch that aids in relaxation and reduce stress. MLD is commonly used systemically on the entire body but can also be used on a localized region of the body.
MLD on the face can assist with treating headaches, facial tension, and migraine pain by increasing lymph flow away from the head. On the lower extremities, MLD can be used to reduce edema, and/or chronic swelling and inflammation, caused by daily activities and normal wear and tear of articulating cartilage in the knees and hips caused by years of physical activity or previous injuries.
By promoting natural lymph circulation, MLD can also be used to treat various forms of edema, such as post trauma and surgical edema, edema caused by daily physical activities, or edema that's been occurring since birth. In addition, MLD can also be used to reduce the effects of swelling and chronic inflammation due to physical trauma or daily activities.
MLD can also be used for general health and wellness. Since the lymphatic system is the primary system responsible for elimination of wastes and toxins, and immunity response, promoting lymphatic flow through the body can support and boost immune response.
